5 Ways to Beat Your Summer Staycation

Jun 12, 2014

For whatever reason, you didn’t plan a summer vacation this year. Maybe funds were low at the time, or planning ahead just isn’t your style. Regardless, it’s a staycation for you this summer, right?

Wrong! You don’t have to book an expensive resort six months out to have a great time when the weather finally gets warm. There are still fun, even budget friendly ways to get out of town and make some memories with the ones you love!

1. The Great Outdoors

Camping is a family activity that requires minimal planning. Research nearby campgrounds. Decide whether you want to rent a cabin or bring along tents, and note any activities the campgrounds may offer, like horseback riding or canoeing!

2. Girl’s Weekend

Gather your girlfriends for a glass of wine and plan a last-minute girl’s weekend! Visit the nearest big city with great shopping, or road trip to a spa to have a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend.

3. Guy’s Weekend

Gather your friends and plan some impromptu guy-time. Drive to see your home team play an away game, or gather some equipment and go fishing!

4. Romantic Getaway

Surprise your significant other and whisk them away for the weekend. You can’t go wrong with the traditional quaint bed and breakfast. If you live in a big city especially, it’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle. Plus, it’s often easier to book B&Bs last minute!

5. Hit The Open Road

Take a road trip! Pile your kids or friends into the car and get going. Go see that historical landmark a few hours away that you’ve never gotten around to visiting, or plan a pub crawl across state lines!
